Update:

We stayed at the Hilton St. Louis downtown for night 1 of 2 booked but left that hotel this morning after a night of very little sleep. We have since located ourselves at the Marriott Union Station (see Hotwire post for win)

Our room was well over 80 degrees and there was a loud vibrating noise that actually could be felt while in bed or while standing on the floor. The hotel is very dirty and smells like old dirty smoke.

They moved us to a different room but, while it was cooler it was still very dirty and smelled bad.

While the staff was very friendly and helpful there was little that could be done short of major Air Conditioning repair and MAJOR cleaning and refurbishing.

4 star means nothing anymore.

We are VERY unhappy with hotel options in St. Louis and find many of them to be old, worn out, dirty, disrepaired and poorly run. Names that used to be known for clean and comfortable accommodations are no longer a known certainty.

I believe there are very few truly clean and well managed properties. (Westin and Ritz being the baseline)

This may not be the correct location for these comments but we felt the need to let others be aware.

Hope your stay at the Marriott (which I've always thought was a neat-looking property) is going much better.
