Hotwire Hotel: 4* Venice Eurostars Residenza Cannaregio Hotel

Just booked a 4-star hotel in Venice, Italy, through Hotwire.

Hotwire listed it as a 4-star within 0-2.5 miles from city center, 85% approval rate. Following ammenities: business center, internet, laundry, breakfast,

And the most concerning: Hotwire listed its price at US$205 p/night (for a 3-night stay) and the "regular price" (elsewhere) for the hotel at US$432 - US$434 (it means an approximate discount of 50%)

After paying for it, it turns out that the hotel in question is Eurostars Residenza Cannaregio Hotel

The most stunning: All the other booking websites listed the hotel at about the same price as Hotwire, US$205 p/night, with no mention to the skyrocket rate that Hotwire listed as "regular price".

No excuse based on footnote about neighborhood prices as they are averaging much lower than that too, at about the same as the hotwire "special rate".

Conclusion: For a company like Hotwire to be conducting business like this, misleading customers it means that they must be really desperate and up to anything. Maybe it is a sign that the good-old days of the trully special rates are over.

SO BE AWARE OF THIS.
