Ben10 Posted July 4, 2012 Author Report Posted July 4, 2012 Hello Friends,Help for bid on 4* NYC TS & Empire state July22 - July25 for 3 rooms with 3 nights.I bid 4* in NYC TS & Empire state area with $170 max, but Priceline asked to rebid. My question is what is higher bid people used to win bid in this time frame? I did not want to go so high because of budget limit. Should I make something change a little bit to bring down a cost without effect to access transportation, because I have children with me.I try to look for Areas: Mid town, 0-1 mile radius center city etc... somewhere is easy access transportationWould basically need convenient subway access to explore the city so any guidance in a bidding strategy would be appreciated.Thank you! :)
thereuare Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.I try to reservation 3 rooms, each room 2 adults and one 12 yrs old child. To clarify... do two rooms have 2adults/0children and one room has 2adults/1child... OR does each room need 2adults/1child?PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request... especially in NYC where a high percentage of rooms only one have one bed and at many hotels rooms with two beds is considered an upgrade from 'standard'.Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Please clarify the occupancy issue as well as your risk tolerance given our comments above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Ben10 Posted July 5, 2012 Author Report Posted July 5, 2012 Hello Thereuare one room has 2adults/1childTherefore three rooms have 6adults/3child.Thank you.
AaronJB Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Are you okay with the likely possibility that each room will have 1 bed if you use PRICELINE?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Ben10 Posted July 6, 2012 Author Report Posted July 6, 2012 Hello AaronJB,I am fine with room have 1 King bed because we very slim. As long as close to center city convenient to walk to the bus and subway. Thank you.Kenny
thereuare Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 I am fine with room have 1 King bed...You could receive a room with only one bed... not necessarily a King. (and given it's NYC where space is at a premium it could be a double sized bed).Although an extreme example, the Hudson Hotel (3.5* rated in the CPS zone) has standard rooms which are ~140 sq. ft. These have only one double bed in them and given the room size the bed takes up the majority of the space... no room for a rollaway (not even sure if the hotel has them, many NYC don't)This is just one example but there are others (perhaps not as extreme but where three in a room would definitely be uncomfortable, and the hotel could also take issue with triple occupancy due to fire code)... please confirm if you're willing to accept the risk and how you'd like to proceed, we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
