Hotwire Hotel: 3* Fort Lauderdale (Las Olas - Downtown - Port Everglades) Hyatt Place Ft Lauderdale 17th St Convention Center

I reviewed the three available Hotwire hotels that were available for 08/10/12 check-in and 08/11/12 check-out in the Fort Lauderdale (Las Olas - Downtown - Port Everglades) area by using the information in the Pinned Hotwire Hotel List - Florida thread and at the time of my booking (07/04/12) I found the 4* Renaissance(?) - ($64), 3-1/2* Riverside(?) - ($66) and 3* Hyatt Place ($56) available. Interestingly enough I found that the price and taxes can vary depending on the number of rooms booked.

All Examples below are for 08/10/12 Check-in and 08/11/12 Check-out @ 3* Hyatt Place Ft Lauderdale 17th St Convention Center.

Ex 1. 1 Room - 2 Adults - ($55 + $12.31 Taxes) = $67.31

Ex 2. 2 Rooms - 3 Adults/1Child - ($56/each + $19.47 Taxes) = ($56 + $56 + $19.47) = $131.47

Ex 3. 1 Room - 3 Adults/1 Child - ($67 + $13.71 Taxes) = $80.71

Had I booked 2 rooms separately (one at a time) at what appeared to be the lower price ($55) I would have paid ($67.31 x 2) = $134.62. This is provided that after purchasing the first room that a 2nd room would be available at the same price. By purchasing the rooms together and paying $1 more per room but paying less in taxes I saved ($134.62 - $131.47) = $3.15. Not much, but just throwing that out there for anyone that books 2 rooms at a time/together that you may save $$$ because of lower total/combined price on taxes even when the base room price has gone up in price.

I chose the 3* Hyatt because of the free Internet, free airport shuttle and free breakfast. The 3-1/2 and 4 star Hotwire hotels are a great value also although neither offered free breakfast and only one had free Internet. We are pretty much a 3* family here.

I made sure I was logged into this site and closed all my other browser windows and linked through the HOTWIRE icon in the Florida thread.

Also, I have to say a big thanks to Thereuare (The Administrator) for this web site and all his hard work helping people. With 152,862 total posts he/she has invested a lot of time in this site helping others!
