amtrak23
3.5* San Diego (Downtown San Diego & Harbor Island ) 7/11-7/16 I missed a great deal on flight + hotel on Orbitz Saturday night. The hotel was Hotel Indigo and total price for both was $1900 for these dates. It then disappeared from most searches, including no availability from it's own site. It now has availability on it's website and PRICELINE, so I'm hoping to try to some bidding built around trying to land that property. It's $458 on PRICELINE currently, and the prices there have been trending down over the last two weeks according to their median retail prices shown there. A 5* property was in the $1200's, now $810. 4* was in the $900's, now $592. And 3.5* was in the high $700's, now $458. Looks like 11 rebid zones, and only 3 other 3.5* properties on the hotel list here so what would be a good bidding strategy?Max bid price doesn't matter, just like to feel like I got a good deal, and ideally shooting for the Gaslamp area. I was holding out for something on HOTWIRE since there is better area selection, but might give this a shot and see what happens.I have been using the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for searching. thereuare
With rates per nite in the $400+ what is the most you'd like to bid per nite in order to feel you receive a 'good deal'? Are you looking to first try at the 3.5* level up to your limit? Please click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links before replying.Thank you. amtrak23
Clicked links. $300 would be a nice number to hit. I only picked 3.5* because it seemed to limit the pool of potential properties the most to the area I was hoping for. I would be fine with a 3* if needed though. Link to comment
