Hi there,

I've been looking through your advices and lists for days now and the more I read, the less sure I am...

We (boyfriend and I) are travelling to NYC (from overseas, sorry for bad English btw) from 9/29-10/2 because it's "only" a stopover, we're kind of on a budget, so I thought sticking to outer districts would be best. We need the accomodation just for sleeping and a nice shower anyways. So we'll need either a place with shuttle or PATH-access. What would you recommend? And what should I bid? Of course I don't want to disappoint my boyfriend with the result.

I've been looking into:

- Meadowlands Plaza Hotel

- Holiday Inn Hasbrouck Heights

- Holland Motor Lodge / Hotel (for example)

what areas / prices should I try for best savings / results?

Thank you!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Which airport are you flying in to?

So we'll need either a place with shuttle or PATH-access.

To clarify, are you referring to transportation from the airport to hotel OR from the hotel to NYC?
...we're kind of on a budget... what should I bid?
What is your maximum budget (per room per nite before taxes and fees) for this stay?

I am flying to LGA and we'll be leaving from JFK. Because we are flying in really early (7 am) and leaving late (11 pm) the hotel location does not need to match the airport areas.

I was referring to the transport from the hotel to NYC. I figured there's always a way from the airport to the hotel... This should just emphasize that a city-hotel is not necessary if there are reasonable transport options, especially if this saves budget.

Is 80$ per room/night a realistic NYC budget (before taxes and fees?)

Thank you!!!

As much as i don't like the area i would look to stay east of Manhattan in Long Island City... your budget isn't going to be enough for the nice part of Jersey City/Hoboken, and while Secaucus/Meadowlands area would most likely work, i wouldn't make the trip across the island for this stay. It would be worth it if you were staying in the Jersey City/Hoboken area, but as per above, your budget won't be enough for that good part of this zone, imo.

However, you need to be careful what you purchase as not all parts of LIC have easy/good access to the subway.
