I am planning an upcoming strip to Las Vegas. I want a 4* hotel on the strip, but I would like to weed out a few of the options. Luckily, the options I DON'T want have a list price significantly below the list prices of the hotels I'm willing to accept (for example, the Tropicana is listed at about 50% of Mandalay Bay). If I were to place a bid for a 4* hotel that was slightly higher than the list price of the hotels I DO NOT want, would that effectively weed them out?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

When bidding on PRICELINE, one has to be willing to accept *any* of the hotels at the star rating selected in the zone/s selected. If you try to bid above the retail price of a hotel you're trying to avoid, you can still win a property you were trying to avoid - a hotel can still be won if a bid is over retail.

If you are willing to accept any of the 4*'s in the desired zones, please provide the details of the stay (date/s of travel, desired budget per night, desired zones)

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

If you're trying to target/avoid specific properties i would sooner use HOTWIRE... it may cost you a little more than PRICELINE, but you stand a better chance of getting what you want by using the clues provided by HOTWIRE.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

No, they will give you anything at that star level in that area. If anything, I would guess they are more likely to give you something that would be a lower price, as it probably maximizes their profit.
