toronto_discount Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Started bidding yesterday. 4* markham - $75 rejected4* markham & vaughn - $80 rejected3.5* markham & vaughn - $85 rejectedreally just want to Hilton Suites Markham or Sheraton Parkway North (which I've seen other posts commenting they have Sheraton as a 3*). Will have to try 3* later if still can't get a 4* below $100. Hopefully can still get the Sheraton or the Courtyard By Marriot (< $65 for 3*s). Let me know if anyone has any experiences! Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 The Sheraton Parkway North is current rated 4* by PRICELINE... not sure where you saw the 3* rating but they could have been very old posted wins? However, keep in mind that with PRICELINE you're not bidding on any specific hotel, but you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. If this is acceptable and you want to first try for a 4* hotel up to your limit:When bidding 4* in Toronto you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Markham...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $82, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $84, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $86, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $92, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $94, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $96, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100If the above is rejected, it's up to you whether you want to for a 3.5* property OR you could book a refundable rate at the Sheraton for $134/nite or a refundable rate at the Hilton for $145/nite... this would protect you from rates going up while you continue to try PRICELINE for lower priced inventory in the weeks ahead.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know it goes. toronto_discount Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 There's only 2 4* hotels in markham and none with 3.5, so if i choose 4* and 3.5* to bid, i'm assured one of these 2 hotels (or any new 4*s, which I don't mind). I'll re-try today after timing out
thereuare Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 There's only 2 4* hotels in markham and none with 3.5...How have you determined this information? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. toronto_discount Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 How have you determined this information? From the Priceline Hotel ListI know it's not a complete list, but if they are comparable to the 4*s listed here, i'd be happy. And also that's why I'm reluctant to add 4* from regions that don't have any 4* listed.. I don't want to get stuck in Brampton (nothing against brampton, it's just REALLY FAR from where I need to be)
AaronJB Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 The re-bid zones should be determined from the first bidding (zone and star rating selection) screen, not the list, as the lists on Betterbidding only offer what has been reported to the board.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 The way to determine your re-bid zones is detailed here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedPlease read the link above and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board.
