Priceline Hotel: 4* or 3.5* or good 3.0* hotel in SFO--Union Square check in July 8; check out July 13

I made one bid last night and 3 tonight (changing variables) and was rejected. I am now seeing that I may be far off the mark with pricing...but I really cannot afford the mid- or high 100s. I was hoping for $125 max. $95 rejected last night. $115, $125 and $127 rejected tonight.

We are not planning to have a car, so we wanted to be in the heart of things.

Any suggestions? I have used Priceline only once before.

Done and done.... I lowered things to 3*, and bid in the 2 neighborhoods I want (Union Square), and bid $125...and still nothing.

Rates are fairly high for these dates... using BiddingHelper.com what is the best deal you're able to find thru traditional booking channels?

While i don't know if it will help, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Unfortunately, we were not able to secure a hotel in the areas we wanted for what we could pay. We ended up not using Priceline and just securing a hotel at a non-bid price, in the Marina area, a hotel that cost less than what we were seeing on Priceline, but was highly recommended by people on a travel forum. At the last minute, a family member told us about a contact at a hotel in the area we originally wanted, and we ended up with a really nice hotel within our price range. Maybe next time for Priceline....
