jbell429 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Never saw this happen before but my first bid was $59 for a 2 1/2* in South Portland. Priceline came back with "you got your bid, and we're upgrading you to a 3* in S. Portland -- the Sheraton". We stayed there one night -- it was a deal. every bit a 3*.Bid price $59. Taxes & fees $12. Total charge $71
thereuare Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Thank you for sharing your win with the board.Upgrades happen regularly... usually a sign that you may have been overbidding for your original star level. What was the actual date of your stay? jbell429 Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 We stayed there on a Tuesday night -- 7/12-7/13
blindman Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 Upgrades happen regularly... usually a sign that you may have been overbidding for your original star level.I thought it was a sign that the 3* hotel has a lower PL rate than the 2.5* ?This 'upgrade' is usually not a good one (NJ Hyatt is an exception :) ) and is something you should look out for when bidding a 2.5*
thereuare Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 I thought it was a sign that the 3* hotel has a lower PL rate than the 2.5* ?It's indicative of that as well... but if not bidding for a 2.5* property as a pseudo re-bid, wouldn't it usually also be indicative of overbidding for the 2.5* property? Analise Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 I've stayed there plenty of times and it's a great hotel. You got a very good deal It looks like a silo but the rooms are very, very nice. It's across the street from the Maine Mall so it puts you in a central location.
