givingtree Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Hi,I need a room in Montreal from 8/8 - 8/11. I've tried Priceline but have failed with $75 as my highest 4* bid and $70 as my highest 3* bid.I think hotwire has the Sheraton Le Center as the 4* at $110 right now, but not sure. The 3.5* may be Le Cantlie Suites for $101.The 3* I think is Novotel for $91, but I've read poor reviews on that place. Are any of these a good deal? Can one normally negotiate with the hotel for a non-smoking room or is it more take what you get.I would not be able to handle a smoking room.Any info appreciated.Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! However, if you absolutely can't accept a smoking room the only place you should book is directly thru the hotel's website... all others are just 'requests' (and i've even seen direct bookings not get what was reserved)If you're willing to go a route other than a direct booking, post the amenties that are associated with the hotel you are considering we will try to help/confirm what you are seeing. givingtree Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 Hotwire:4* - Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Spa Services Business Center3.5* - Suite Boutique Hotel Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Kitchenette Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service)3* - Airport Shuttle Restaurant(s) Fitness CenterAlso, about the smoking room, my question is more aimed at getting a general idea of how successful people are getting a non-smoking room booking through priceline or hotwire with no guarantee. Thanks
thereuare Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I would guestimate it at about 85%... if that is a number you're comfortable with let us know and we'll take a look at the above properties. givingtree Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 I'm comfortable with that number.Let me know what you think about the options.I did just find the Omni on Expedia for $109 / night. Could that be a better deal than any of the other options?
thereuare Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 That Expedia deal does look to be the best for your stay.. reviews are good and the price is right. If you do purchase it please use our Expedia link to begin your purchase. givingtree Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 Yeah it's a bit more than I wanted to spend though.I was looking to spend more between $60-$75.
givingtree Posted July 22, 2005 Author Report Posted July 22, 2005 Are there any discounts like the "giftcard06" for first time Expedia users?
thereuare Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 No discounts for Expedia purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
givingtree Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 Actually, while looking over the Hotwire list for the dates that would accomodate my stay, there is a 2* for $44.I looked at the two 2*'s on the list here and neither look all that bad for $44.Which one do you think is on Hotwire, Quality Hotel or Quality Inn?Also, would I maybe get a better value bidding for 2.5* or 2* on priceline?
givingtree Posted July 24, 2005 Author Report Posted July 24, 2005 I am seriously thinking about snagging the 2* on Hotwire for the dates I need at $44 but I'd like to get an idea of which hotel it is.From the list on this site it appears that it's either Quality Hotel Downtown or Quality Inn Downtown. Any idea which one of those two, and is it possible it's another hotel entirely?Any help would be great.Thanks.
givingtree Posted July 24, 2005 Author Report Posted July 24, 2005 Well, after deliberating the options on Hotwire, Priceline, and Expedia, I decided to put in a bid for the 2.5* on Priceline for $60 and won a Residence Inn Montreal Downtown (a Marriott) room with full kitchen.I'm pretty happy with the results. I wasn't expecting the Residence Inn though b/c it's not on the list on this site under 2.5* Priceline hotels. Worked out well anyway though. Looks like a great location and has free high-speed wireless access! Thanks for help.I'll recommend this site in the future.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Since both hotels look the same (with only one, the same, amenity icon) there is no telling which one it is.Yes, it can always be a hotel that we don't yet know about.
