I am planning on going to Italy with my girlfriend for about 12 days. We will fly out Aug 6, arrive the 7th and fly out the 19th. We would like to stay in the following cities for the specified amount of days

Venice - 3 Days

Florence - 2 Days

Rome - 3 Days

Naples - 3 Days

Capri - 3 Days

3 Star hotels in most of the locations are fine but of course it would be nice to get 4 where possible. The more under 150 a night average the better but hopefully not more, I understand that Venice and Capri are expensive. Any recommendations on bidding/booking?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

Please use a separate thread for each leg of your stay, we'll use this thread for your first leg of Venice... the dates are Aug 7-10? For these dates are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better? (ie- did you want to bid up to your limit first for a 4* hotel and then if rejected try for a 3*... OR do you prefer the least expensive 3* or better)?

Also, do note that in Europe hotel star ratings are a bit more 'generous' than those in the States/North America... a 3* in Europe may be closer to a 2*/2.5* in the US.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

I won the Hilton Molino Stuckey several years ago (I believe it is posted in the appropriate section of Better Bidding). It was nice (though our view wasn't the best). The hotel offers free water taxi service so don't buy a multi day pass like we did. The hotel is on a smaller island off the main one. The pool on the roof was nice with great views. It took about 10 minutes by water taxi to get to St Marks Square. Very comfortable hotel with lots of amenities if you want them.

We rented apartments and studios with kitchens and laundry while we were in Europe and the cost was about the same or less than the hotels. it's another option to look into and can make the stay seem more like you are part of the community rather than just a tourist.
