Sherrym78218 Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Checked Hotline (through link on this site!) and need help identifying two hotels. Searched for 1 adult, 1 child for nights of 08/04/12 and 08/05/2012 (2 nights).1. Midtown East area hotel, 4*, $155 per night. 90% recommendation from Trip Advisor. Amenities include:fitness centerHigh-Speed internet accessAccessible for the deafAccessible bathroomRestaurantTennis nearbyAccessible path of travelHandicapped parkingBusiness CenterAccessible for the blindIn-room accessibilityRoll-in showerIt looks to me that it could be the Inter-Continental The Barclay or The Roosevelt Hotel. The "tennis" portion of the amenities is what's throwing me off. Previously, "tennis" has been listed as an amenity for the Inter-Continental but this time it's listed as "tennis nearby." I don't see where Roosevelt Hotel has listed "tennis" as an amenity. I would be much happier with the Inter-Continental than The Roosevelt Hotel (I think!). But, am open to your opinion.2. Midtown Central Hotel, 4* $168. 90% recommendation from TripAdvisor. Amenities include:Smoke Free RoomsFitness CenterHigh-Speed Internet Access Looks to me like this could either be the Sheraton New York or the Cassa Hotel and Residences. Any thoughts?Thank you for your time! Love the service you provide!Sherry
AaronJB Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Good evening. :)Please provide a follow-up to your prior Hotwire NYC thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 For the MTE property my best guess would be the Grand Hyatt or the InterContinental Barclay. For the MTC property my guess would be the Cassa Hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Sherrym78218 Posted June 19, 2012 Author Report Posted June 19, 2012 Thank you very much for your help. After posting, I saw another post about the Grand Hyatt which listed the same amenities as I had listed. What do you think would be a better choice? Understanding nothing is a "given" and it's just your opinion? Do you think I would do better with Priceline? I looked around and these Hotwire rates (which I just checked again through your link) seem to be at a decent price. I'm not set on an exact area of NYC but would prefer to stay out of the Times Square and Financial District Areas. Thanks again for your input!sherry
thereuare Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 I actually like both the Grand Hyatt and the InterContinental Barclay, and while i know less about the Cassa Hotel, i would go with the Cassa based upon the reviews i've read (and great location). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Sherrym78218 Posted June 19, 2012 Author Report Posted June 19, 2012 Yes, from what I saw Cassa seems very nice and in a great location. My concern though is that I would get Sheraton New York and I'm not thrilled with that idea. What makes you think it's Cassa rather than Sheraton? Just curious.Meanwhile, I probably need to act soon before they are both gone!Again, thank you for your help.
AaronJB Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 It could be the Sheraton or Cassa, which have both been seen with this amenity set. However, I'd lean towards it being the Cassa, given that there is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating showing on the detail page. There is still the risk that it could be the Sheraton (as the tripadvisor ratings on HOTWIRE are not updated in real time, so if there's been changes since the last update they're not reflected), but the Cassa would appear more likely based on the TA rating. If you are not comfortable with the possibility of the Sheraton, I'd go with the potential IC or GH, and that listing also appears cheaper when I'm searching this afternoon than the possible Cassa listing.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Sherrym78218 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Report Posted June 20, 2012 Just booked the hotel -- $155.00 per night for the Hotel Inter-Continental The Barclay. I'm thrilled. Just didn't want to take the risk that I might end up at the Sheraton. Really wanted Cassa but just didn't feel confident enough. I really appreciate your help and input.
