I am a first time Priceline user and am not good at this I bid up to 108 today and it was rejected. I am wanting to stay millenium park/loop area. Any tips suggestions? I only went down to 3 1/2 stars...a little scared to go lower. Do you think I will be able to get something under 120? Is it better to wait closer to date? Thanks for the help I will def post my win...if I get one!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

A bid of $120 will be close, if not successful i dont' think it would take too much more, likely under $140 would be enough. You would likely increase your chances if you include the NMA-River North zone as well.

Are you only interested in the Loop? Do you want to try Loop up to $120, then if rejected try NMA-River North up to $120... or do you now want to bid for the lowest price 4* or better in either zone? If just sticking with the Loop and rejected at $120, do you then want to try up to $140 (or some other maximum bid?)

Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll take it from there.

Id be willing to go up to 140 and the other area would be fine too just want to avoid those tiny rooms bc we will have two small kids with us. We know we may only get one bed which will be fine as long as theres enough room for my sons lol blow up bed. So should i bid loop only first then if rejected add other area?

Give AaronJB a day to reply as he will be in a better position to comment if one zone has a greater chance than the other of extremely small rooms.

I've also moved your post to the ILLINOIS >> Priceline section of the board.

Congrats on your success. :)

Not a bad deal for this well-located property; hopefully the hotel will exceed expectations.

Call the hotel right now and request two beds. It looks like they don't always honor this request, according to tripadvisor. Your chances are better if you call ahead.

There are at a handful of properties (historic or otherwise) where smaller rooms would be an issue at the 3.5*/4* levels in both the NMA and Loop zones. I wouldn't go 3* in the Loop area (or 3.5* in the Loop area), but I actually think there are a number of very nice 3*'s in the River North-NMA area. The 3.5* level in the NMA would be fine as well, although the one possibility that would be a concern in terms of small rooms would be the Allerton at the 3.5* level in NMA. At the 4* level in NMA, the Drake (historic), Millennium Knickerbocker (historic), Felix and Whitehall would be possibilities that have smaller rooms. The Palmer, Hilton, W City Center and Burnham would be possibilities at the 4* level in the Loop with smaller rooms.

Additionally, while I think the 3* and 3.5* levels in the NMA area would be mostly good in terms of odds of not getting a smaller room, you could be upgraded to a higher star rating.
