mikezmo Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Greetings,I am relatively new to priceline and would like to ask advice regarding strategy for winning a 4* hotel in the French Quarter for 6/25-6/28 (2 People). I did some reading on here and I'm a little confused on the term re-bid zone so any clarification would be great.Any help would be appreciated.
thereuare Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Start with this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedWhen bidding 4* in the French Quarter you have FIVE re-bid zones. After reading the thread above see if you can confirm your five re-bid zones OR if you're still confused ask questions and we'll break it down further for you. Once you're up to speed on re-bidding let us know your maximum bid for this trip and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mikezmo Posted June 18, 2012 Author Report Posted June 18, 2012 Thank you for the quick reply. I already read the thread that you linked me but after reading it again, it is making more sense to me.I would like to spend $70 or less a night ideally. There is a bit more wiggle room but it looks like some people have been winning some for 60-70 a night.Would you suggest that I add the "Garden District" since it doesn't have any 4 stars? Any additional strategy help would be much appreciated.Thanks.
Romelle Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 mikezmo,The Garden District is indeed one of the five rebid zones so could be safely added right now. However, it is vital you learn how to detect them the right way. Re-bid zones change all the time and one has to make the check just before each bidding session. Old possibly-incorrect lists can't be used. When you are actually in PRICELINE, about to start bidding but haven't checked any zones yet, try this. Check just the Garden District and of course you will see it doesn't have any hotel availability at the 4* level or higher. Now uncheck it, and see if you can find the other 4 with the same characteristic. When you report back with all 5 re-bid zones, I'm sure thereuare will give you a very helpful bidding strategy. RomellePS - It does not apply to New Orleans, but if you take your new re-bidding skill to another city and see the Resort category at the bottom of the star list be careful. Treat the Resort category as a 4.5* when looking for re-bid zones.
thereuare Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Rather than piecemeal this one "is this a re-bid zones" at a time, try this:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter New Orleans and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereDoes this make it any clearer?
