wildcatksu Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 There are too many different areas! Where should I look for a hotel around $100 that we can get around on foot or metro? We plan on staying July 6-12 or can go a couple of days later. There is almost too much info out there to sort through. Even when I used your HOTWIRE link they gave so many different areas. Please help so I can start planning our vacation.
thereuare Posted June 1, 2012 Report Posted June 1, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! The most common/central zones on HOTWIRE for the average visitor are White House-Downtown and Capitol Hill-National Mall... with a not so distant third option of Dupont Circle. This last zone is not necessarily within the touristy areas of DC, but many like it as it has more of a neighborhood than tourist feel, with lots of restaurants and shops to service the community here, and is a short Metro commute to the 'downtown' area.I'd start with those above, and if out of your budget range, then you can start to consider some of the outlying suburban zones... but then ensuring an area easily accessible to a metro stop becomes a bit more difficult. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Jeffwestffa Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Too late to get the one by the National Mall. Should have jumped on it. Have never used Hotwire before and am too chicken at the moment to book the 4 days of a hotel if I am not sure it is very close to the metro since we have younger kids.
