AaronJB Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
objets Posted June 16, 2012 Author Report Posted June 16, 2012 I was hoping to be under the $150/night mark, but it seams as most everything is sold out...
Romelle Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 Hotwire has an Alexandria 3* for $150. It is of course out a ways, but a charming area.Romelle
objets Posted June 16, 2012 Author Report Posted June 16, 2012 tyvm for the heads up, I was looking at Fairfax VA as well, sadly didnt get that one either...
thereuare Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 Given the very high demand (and rates) for theses dates it doesn't appear that $150 will be enough for a 3.5*/4*... are you interested in lower your star rating further OR increasing your bid price? What is your current game plan for this trip? You may be able to use MAPS and HOTELS.com and sort by price... then zoom in on the map for each property to find something that is convenient to a metro stop. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this trip or if we can be of further help. thereuare Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Id love to pull this trip off somehow. My budget is under $500 for three nights, one room, two queen beds. 4* not necessary...how would you proceed ?When using your PRICELINE you can't guarantee two beds (or queen beds for that matter). PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)If you're willing to accept this risk, what are all the zones, by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. objets Posted June 17, 2012 Author Report Posted June 17, 2012 White House-Downtown, Georgetown-Foggy Bottom, Dupont Circle-Woodley Park, Convention Center- Capitol-Hill Area, Arlington Va, Crystal City VA Any of the above would be fine...
objets Posted June 18, 2012 Author Report Posted June 18, 2012 at this point Im beginning to wonder if Im doing something wrong. Ive tried and tried and still no joy. Went as high as $129 2* and $245 4* no joy...
thereuare Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Rates are very high for these dates, so there is obviously something happening in town (a political event, government meeting, rally, convention, etc) that is driving up hotel rates for these dates. HOTWIRE does have a 2* hotel in the Arlington zone with:ShuttlePoolGolfFree ParkingComplimentary BreakfastFree Internet It does have a low 65% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests, but also has a decent 4.0/5.0 TA review rating.Best guess for this property would be the Best Western Pentagon-Reagan Airport, should this be of any interest. If not, using BiddingHelper.com, what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. objets Posted June 24, 2012 Author Report Posted June 24, 2012 Used the HOTWIRE link and ended up at the Best Western Pentagon, fully understand the 2* and the 65% recommendation....
thereuare Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 Sorry to hear if this was not the best stay possible, but if i recall, it was extremely difficult to find anything within your budget for these dates which were substantially higher than 'normal'. Can you add a reply to this thread with the room rate per nite so we can add this information to the topic title.Thank you for using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase and sharing your results, helping us add this property to the Hotwire Hotel List.Hope your future stays are more to your liking and was at least satisfactory given the tough conditions.
