renton Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 Trying to book two rooms for 3 nights starting on 7/29, looking at Midtown East Area but willing to expand some. Also tried TS and CPS and nothing, have bid up to $150 thus far. Thought 150 would do it, any suggestions? Thanks!(have clicked on both links to PRICELINE and HOTWIRE and will use to book)
thereuare Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! To confirm, you've bid the 3.5* level in these three zones (MTE, CPS and TS) up to $150?Note that when bidding 3.5* and lower:MTE - some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?CPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (~140 sq. ft.).. is this acceptable? If these are not acceptable but they are your preferred zone(s), i do think you may be able to get a 4* hotel in the MTE zone if you're willing to increase your budget by another $10-$15/nite, but not sure if you're willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel.Let us know if you'd like to move forward by keeping your budget at $150 but adding other 3.5* zones OR increase your budget a bit for a 4* property in one of the zones above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. renton Posted June 18, 2012 Author Report Posted June 18, 2012 Thanks for the reply! I think for the 3.5 ones I only went up to $140, for 4 stars I went up to $150 with no luck.If it will only take $10-15 more per night i'd be willing to do that to stay away from those possibilities.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Although the hotel i was seeing has gone up in price a little in the last two days (so i'm less confident of you winning something for $10-$15/nite more), if you're willing to bid up to $165 in the MTE, CPS and TS zones i'd try:At the 4* level in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and TS and CPS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165Any questions feel free to ask. renton Posted June 19, 2012 Author Report Posted June 19, 2012 No luck, bid up to $165 in zones TS, Upper West, MTE, MTW, CPS and HK.
AaronJB Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 I think you're probably - based on rates showing on HOTWIRE - very, very close to a 4* win for these dates. Did you want to try a little higher ($5-15) and see if a 4* will accept, or would you like to try starting lower for a 3.5*?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

renton Posted June 26, 2012 Author Report Posted June 26, 2012 Guess maybe stay away from MTE in that case.
