At HOTWIRE if you click the 'See all' link under the amenities for this offer, do you see more than what you've listed above (please include all amenities include 'accessible' ones)

Please confirm if there are other amenities or if the above is the complete list and we'll have a look at this offer.

EDIT TO ADD:

I see you included the complete list in your previous post, to confirm this is the full list of amenities you're seeing:

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Tennis

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

If so, best guess for this property would be the Grand Hyatt or the InterContinental Barclay.

Thanks so much for getting back to me.. really a newbie to this "not knowing what i am getting" thing.. but i do like it :)

the list you have attached is correct - but it seems its an accessible room - can we call the hotel and ask for a regular room? I used Priceline in Boston last year and got the Back Bay Hotel and called them they upgraded us and were fabulous...mind you - its a smaller boutique hotel - wanted to know how a Hyatt or Intercontinental might be?

Also - i want to avoid the New Yorker hotel and worried that might show up...

thoughts?

thanks again!

HOTWIRE now shows 'accessible' amenities for each hotel... it does not imply that you will receive an accessible room, only that the hotel has these types of rooms available (of course since your room is assigned at check-in based upon availability there is always a chance that the hotel will be busy/sold-out and all that is left is an accessible room and that is what you'll receive... but the odds don't favor this)

The New Yorker (assuming you're referring to the Ramada Plaza New Yorker) is not in the MTE zone, so that would not be a possible outcome for this property.

It's not entirely unusual, although a tad surprising, if there's nothing going on (and this is not a particularly busy season.) If MTE is a must, then keep checking back often to see if the 4* inventory is changed/reloaded. You can also look to see if anything different appears when you search for 2 adults and 2 children, although that may also result in a higher price, especially in NYC. Are there any other listings of interest?

I'm seeing a different 4* MTC property then the one above... the one i'm seeing i suspect is the Mansfield. The Grand Hyatt gets better reviews than the Mansfield so i think the GH is the better choice, but it also comes down to how much you value the $50/nite difference.

The 4.5* i'm guessing is the Sofitel and it gets GREAT reviews, but it comes down to if you want to lock in a 'better' hotel at this price OR if your ultimate goal is a lower priced hotel. If it was one week before your stay i would say "yes, i'd switch" but the question is whether you can find something similar to the Grand Hyatt for less (ie- the Sofitel would be higher rated but also costs more than what you might be able to get something similar to the Grand Hyatt for)

If you would also consider MSG/Chelsea area what i believe is 3.5* rated The Element is offered for $180/nite. It's lower rated star-wise but it's fairly new and i've heard good things about it, although the location is a big 'busier' than your other choices in the MTE and MTC zones.

Thank you soo much you have been soo helpful so far... We are going with another couple so we'll be booking 2 rooms - do you recommend we wait a cuople weeks and see if prices come down? think the Sofitel will go down in price at all?

otherwise, we'll just keep the Hyatt....

thank you soo much!

There is no way to know if PRICELINE will come down... or move higher, between now and your stay. There is also a (good) chance that the Sofitel disappears entirely from the offerings and is replaced with a different hotel (or no other 4.5* hotel is offered). If you're not ready/prepared to go with the Sofitel now you can continue to monitor and see if anything else appears.

For more on timing the purchase see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you're pleased with the results and are looking forward to your stay. Can you please add a reply to this thread with which service you ultimately used (PRICELINE or HOTWIRE), and if HOTWIRE, the amenities that were shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the board links to begin your travel purchases.

Enjoy your stay.
