Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Chicago (Magnificent Mile - River North) Doubletree Mag Mile

Hello,

I am considering 2 different dates for our trip to Chicago this year. The first is June 27-29 and the second is July 1-3. The hotel prices through Hotwire are significantly less July 1-3. Do you have any incite as to why that is? I would think it would be the other way around since the dates are so close to July 4th? I'm a little worried that we will pick those dates and arrive to a more than usual over packed Chicago. As always I will use your links to purchase my stay.

Not sure why - maybe people heading elsewhere for the 4th Holiday? The city fireworks were cancelled last year, leaving people to jam up Navy Pier for the fireworks there, which I can't imagine is/was a popular decision or good way to see the show. I'm not sure whether or not city fireworks will happen this year, but I'm doubtful, leaving one main less reason to stay downtown during this time. Taste of Chicago is going on during both time periods, but that's more a local than national draw and crowds are mainly isolated to Grant Park.
