beanwz Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 trying to book the sheraton cerritos for next weekend, 6/15-6/17 . i tried $45 and $50 and was denied both times. i'll start trying to go up in $1 increments starting tomorrow. it seems like this is the going rate for most people. any advice?
thereuare Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 A reminder that you're bidding on a 3.5* hotel in this zone... not necessarily on the Sheraton. While this property may be the only 3.5* hotel reported to the board in this zone, there could always be others not yet reported to the board, a new hotel recently added to the system, or a previously reported hotel upgraded to the 3.5* level. When bidding 3.5* in the Orange Country area you have FIVE re-bid zones, but it appears you may only be using ONE of your re-bid zones... are you able to identify and are comfortable using all FIVE re-bid zones? What is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. beanwz Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 tried again at $52 and no luckyea, im aware that its just a 3.5* hotel in the zone. If it is another hotel, i'd be okay with that at something around what i am bidding. im trying to stay in this zone because of the proximity to the reasons i am taking this trip. i think the max bid would be around $60 per night.
AaronJB Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Please let us know if you have questions regarding re-bid zones. With not a ton of time before your stay, if $52 was not accepted, I'd try $55, then $57 if $55 isn't accepted and $60.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
beanwz Posted June 12, 2012 Author Report Posted June 12, 2012 i've gone up to $60 per night and it wasn't accepted. while i know it is not guaranteed that it is the sheraton, I went to the sheraton website directly and tried to book a room for the weekend but there was nothing available. I wasn't able to select the checkout date of sunday the 17th. could this be another reason why my bid isn't being accepted in addition to not bidding high enough?
beanwz Posted June 12, 2012 Author Report Posted June 12, 2012 booked the hyatt regency irvine for $55 for two nights. Started at $50 then went up in $1 increments using the new zone/multiple bid method from this board. Seems like they changed the zones, this zone used to be Irvine-Costa Mesa but is now classified as Irvine-Santa Ana.
thereuare Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 Congratulations on your success! (please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread)While not your first choice of zone, hope you're pleased with the results and this property will work well for your plans.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
