travellerlin Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Downtown Portland, 6/20-6/23. 4 people (need 2 beds)Started bidding 3.5 stars only at 45. When got to 70, decided to add 3 stars. So far, am up to $83/night and nothing. Is there any advice you can give? I didn't want to go above 90.I've bidded for 3.5 star in december 2011 and got it for 55/night so I'm surprised it's gotten this high. I guess this is their peak- summer.I'm considering adding the convention center as an additional location if $87 fails tomorrow. Would adding the convention center area help? Could I get it for around 80 there? Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Downtown Portland, 6/20-6/23. 4 people (need 2 beds)Started bidding 3.5 stars...PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Are you willing to take the double vs. quad occupancy risk with PRICELINE OR do you want to look at quad occupancy on HOTWIRE? Let us know and we'll have a closer look at your dates above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. travellerlin Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 I'm aware of the risk of going with PRICELINE and I'm willing to take it.I looked into hotwire and there were no good deals. Thanks for looking into the dates!
travellerlin Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 I'm trying to identify the hotel. Only 70% of hotwire customers recommend, and it got 3.5 out of 5 for tripadvisor. Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet AccessI'm debating to try priceline for this area before booking (I have only been trying downtown portland thus far), but was wondering if this is a good deal. This only applies for 3 adults. When I put in for 4 adults, the price goes up, so does this mean it's a rollaway bed?
travellerlin Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 I don't need help anymore because we got a bid for convention center. will post that amount in a separate message.
travellerlin Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 Had originally wanted downtown portland, but was up to 103/night for 3 stars.Added Convention Center area at 3.5 stars at 70,then got it at 75 when added for 3 stars.Looks like a very convenient location and it's much less than all the downtown prices i was seeing, so i'm happy!
