Priceline Hotel: something major in nyc from 09/03 - 09-07?

I've been trying to get a 4* in Times Square (with a max bid of $210) and Empire State Building (with a max bid of $190), and nothing.

I know my max bid for TS is low but I've seen wins for ESB from $175 - $185. I saw the post for a win in ESB for $180, from 09/03 - 09/06; I'm just an extra day till the 7th.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Priceline just added a 3* for Lower East Side within the last half hour.

Once September starts, rates do start to climb and if the US Open is taking place during that time, that certainly adds to it. What would be your desired max budget per night? Are you only looking for TS/ESB?

My Swiss friends would prefer TS, and I suggested ESB as a cheaper alternate, but still close to TS with good access to subways and restaurants/bars, which is why I'm avoiding the other areas. Tried to explain Priceline to them but it's just easier if I book for them.

I tried a 3.5* in TS, maxing out at $175 and nothing.

I also tried for a 3* in TS, but now I only get one rebid zone (Coney Island), since LES is now a 3* zone. What would you recommend for a starting bid for a 3* in TS?

I'm fairly certain LES has always had 3* hotels... for as long as i can remember there has only been one re-bid zones at the 3* level in NYC.

For a 3* in Times Square what bid(s) have you already made which were rejected?

I thought LES was a 2.5* zone, but guess not.

For 3*, guess I'll have to jack up my starting bids.

Are they not willing to stay anywhere else other than Times Square... or are you only bidding up to $175 based upon the 4* ESB win at $180 you saw for a sub-set of their dates?

I'm not really sure of their preferences for this trip... how low in star rating are they willing to go at $175 before they consider other zones?
