Bruyere Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Hello,I am looking to bid for a September stay in NYC. We would rather stay in Soho/Tribeca, Upper West Side, Lower East Side, Brooklyn, or anywhere not close to Midtown/Time Square/super touristy areas (and avoid the Grand Hyatt, one of the worst experiences of my life). We would pay max $215 a night for a 4* and max $175 a night for a good 3.5*. What we really want is just a very comfortable and clean bed and clean bathroom. I've been having trouble finding anything, I have bid up to $200 for a 4* for the three nights, no luck. My questions are:- Is it too early, should we wait a bit longer to bid?- should I just bid for the first night and wait to see if I get an offer for more nights, rather than all 3 nights together?- the night of the 5th is a special night for us, would it be advisable to settle for less for the first two nights (a 3*, etc) and pay more for the last night to have a 4*+ hotel? Thank you!

thereuare Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 While i understand your desire to avoid midtown, any thoughts of The Kitano? It's in the ESB zone but is more residential then touristy and also convenient enough to transportation options (as well as a Boutique-style hotel which will get you away from the 'cookie cutter' experience i think you're trying to avoid)Thoughts? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
