Hi all,

Using the HotelChecker tool, I saw that Hotwire has a 4* hotel for $66/night on the Las Vegas Strip - south area hotel. Could this be the Mirage? Says it's going for $130 on other sites and Priceline has it for $129. Priceline says Treasure Island is going for $109.

I ask if it is the Mirage because I'm staying there with a wedding party, but am currently paying approximately $110/night average with reservations through the hotel. I'd only like to book through HOTWIRE if I'm 99% guaranteed that I'll be at the Mirage.

Thoughts?

So now I found a 4* South Strip hotel for $86/night (going for $119 on other sites) with the following amenities:

Resort

Casino

Fitness Center

Pool(s)

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

High-Speed Internet Access

Golf Nearby

Tennis Nearby

Spa Services

Accessible for the blind

Accessible for the deaf

Free Parking

Accessible path of travel

In-room accessibility

Accessible bathroom

Handicapped parking

Roll-in shower

What are the chances this is the Mirage?

Sorry just realized that the Mirage is on the North end of the strip.

So now I found a 4* South Strip hotel for $86/night...

What are the chances this is the Mirage?

If this property is in the South Strip zone, i'd say there is a zero chance it is the Mirage, for as you point out, that property is in the Strip North zone.

Thanks, I see that I made a dumb mistake again.

I've now re-performed the Hotwire search with only The Strip - North area hotels and I've gotten the following results.

5*, which I'm thinking is the Venetian, Wynn, or Palazzo, is $133/night.

4.5*, for $141/night.

4* for $97/night. The amenities are the same as those that I listed in the previous post.

For the final time, what are the chances that the 4* hotel is the Mirage?

Thanks,

Ryan

While the Mirage is possible, i think Treasure Island is the more likely outcome.

Anyone know what is going on in Las Vegas during this time frame? Looking at rooms directly through the hotel websites show pretty steep prices (i.e. $390 for 3 nights at NYNY). Is this normal for summer rates or could they be celebrating the 4th of July early?

I will note that the first half of this stay (6/27-29) does look quite a bit cheaper than the second half when viewed separately, and you may do better overall if you are willing to split your stay.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Your original dates above are for 4 nites... which 3 nites are you referring to? About $100/nite for a 4* hotel for dates which include a weekend is not really 'steep' by Vegas standards, imo.

Sorry, well I meant 3 nights because I've already booked a room downtown for the first night. Also, I've stayed at NYNY for as little as $200 for 3 nights over a weekend. This may have been due to specific promotions through NYNY and off peak time. I was really only wondering if there are some big events in town that weekend that may have caused the higher prices.

If there was a BIG event in town rates would likely be much higher... the rates you're seeing are fairly 'normal', and perhaps when you've booked NYNY for under $200 for 3 nites demand was 'below normal' (i have seen it for less too... but that doesn't mean that the rates above are out of line).

So to confirm... you're looking at 6/28-7/1? What is your maximum budget for this trip? Is there anything in particular you're looking for from a hotel for this stay?

I have actually booked already through the Mirage, because I wanted to guarantee my stay there. We will be in Vegas for a wedding at the Mirage, and with the whole wedding party staying there, I needed to be sure I was there as well. Hopefully I haven't inconvenienced you. I will definitely be using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links next time I book though.

Hi all,

I will be arriving in Las Vegas on a Wednesday night about 9:30 PM. I was wondering what you thought about getting a limo versus taking a taxi. We will be heading downtown so it'll be a fairly hefty cab fare. Any recommendations on a limo service? While I understand a cab might be the cheaper option, I am willing to spend a little more for a limo if in the right price range. Are limo services more likely to give a deal if it is a weeknight?

Thanks for your help,

Ryan
