Nycgrl18 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Hi, I am trying to figure out which hotel is coming up on HOTWIRE's website. We are traveling July 8-12 2 adults and 2 children and when I put in Long Island City New York it comes up Long Island City/Elmhurst area. I wanted a four star hotel but I am assuming there are only three stars in the area, the amenities are: Fitness CenterBusiness CenterHigh speed Internet accessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafFree parkingComplimentary breakfast Free InternetAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingRoll in showerThank You!!

Nycgrl18 Posted June 4, 2012 Author Report Posted June 4, 2012 Clicked on both links, wondering if I may be better off not going this route as I need to be close to a subway station.
thereuare Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 It's a calculated risk, but best guess for this property is the Holiday Inn Express Maspeth (upgraded from the last time it was reported to the board at the 2.5* level) which does not have a very good location for close subway access as the subway is about a mile away. Also, even if not the HI Express, this property shows a rating of 2.5/5.0 by previous HOTWIRE guests, which would also imply it is NOT a good choice if needing a 'good' location. What is your budget for this trip? Nycgrl18 Posted June 18, 2012 Author Report Posted June 18, 2012 My budget from 7/8-7/12 is 150/night trying to keep it low because the rest of our stay we have to stay at the Sheraton in the city because of dance at a rate of 250/night, so if I can get a decent rate before that is what I was trying to do.
thereuare Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Have you done anything in regards to this stay in the last 2 weeks?Does anything appear within your budget when searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children... or are you looking to take the risk on booking for double occupancy when you'll actually be four? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Nycgrl18 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Report Posted June 20, 2012 No, I have not done anything, I was busy trying to find airfare, now that is done so am going to focus on hotels. I do not want to take the risk of booking for double occupancy and will continue to check HOTWIRE daily.
thereuare Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Please don't ask for hotel IDs until your plans are firm and you're ready to commit to a non-refundable purchase as the hotels you ask about on any given day may not be the one(s) offered once you're ready to make a purchase.Which airport do yo fly in to?What about staying on the other side of the river in Jersey City-Hoboken-Weehawken?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Nycgrl18 Posted June 21, 2012 Author Report Posted June 21, 2012 Sorry for that, as it was a last minute change. I really do not care where I stay but I just want to be near a subway station and I believe that when I type in Hoboken it gives me what looks like the Sheraton Lincoln harbor and I think that it is by bus that would take us into the city. I didn't want to do that. The westin would be my choice but it doesn't look like that is a chance. We are flying into Lagaurdia. I just keep looking daily on hotwire and for me it just doesn't look like anything changes as far as price, it seems to stay the same other than maybe a few dollar difference. I don't know maybe I just don't understand how this works. :(
thereuare Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 The Sheraton Lincoln Harbor is currently rated 3.5* by PRICELINE. All of the 'known' 4* PRICELINE hotels on in the Hoboken-Jersey City zone are close to a PATH station (train to NYC) so you should be 'ok' by keeping your minimum star rating at 4* in this zone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.EDIT TO ADD: i see you're seeking quad occupancy and therefore PRICELINE may not be an option Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
