zarthsan Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Hello everyone!Well, I must admit that I am pretty new to Priceline, and this forum as well (although my Aunt told me to check it out since she can't live without it!).What I am doing is searching for good Priceline bids in Kauai for September 26, 27 and October 2nd and 3rd for my girlfriend and myself. Here is where I think my request differs from most other people. I don't care how crappy this place is... I just want a roof over my head and possibly warm water (I will be hiking around the island for 3 weeks, and these 4 days in the hotel will be the only times I am not sleeping in a tent). I found a place that offers community rooms, but it would cost $40 for the two of us to stay there per night (a little too expensive for me when considering there will be 12 other people in the room at the same time). If anyone knows the feasibility of a super-cheap hotel room ($50 or less) per night, I would be so happy to hear it! And, if course, the nicer the place, the better... but I am on a very tight budget, so I will take what I can get.Thank you all so much for your help, and I can't wait to hear you input~Zarth
thereuare Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm finding your $50 limit elusive... best i could find was a $78 room thru Orbitz. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
zarthsan Posted July 21, 2005 Author Report Posted July 21, 2005 Well damn, that is a shame to hear.I guess it is looking like I will need to go with the shared-room place then. However, I will keep up hopes for a possible Priceline bid... and I will even try placing one or two for their lowest quality places.Again, if anyone hears about something or finds a possible place/deal that I should bid, I would be so very greatful for a hint! Thanks again!
LoneStar Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 It's going to be virtually impossible to find a non-hostel accomodation on Kauai for less than $50. At that price, the only other thing I can think of is to look to see if there are any state park cabins on Kauai (I have a vague recollection that there are, or were, in Waimea Canyon. But even those are likely above $50.On the other hand, you can probably stay in a NICE low-key beachfront "resort" on the east side for less than 70 bucks/night on priceline. Just from looking at the hotwire inventory, I see that's possible. A couple years ago, I got one of those for less than $60, but I think prices are up a bit here. Now if it were me -- or probably 99 out of 100 other travellers to Hawaii -- if I could spend $70 to stay in a nice beachfront place or $40 to sleep in a dorm with 12 other people, well . . . . You get it. But if you REALLY don't care where you stay, you can't beat 40 bucks.
