kele Posted June 1, 2012 Report Posted June 1, 2012 How can I get this hotel from bidding at priceline or hotwire?I bid $92 for 4* in downtown area and still got nothing. Why the others got so cheap hotel for 4*?Any suggestion? Thanks.
thereuare Posted June 1, 2012 Report Posted June 1, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! For starters, note that you can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. Also, rates are date specific, so you won't always be able to replicate another user's win if demand (ie- rates) for their dates is less than demand (ie- rates) for your own dates.Based upon the above, are you willing to accept any 4* hotel in the Downtown zone or is the Hyatt the only property you're willing to stay in?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kele Posted June 3, 2012 Author Report Posted June 3, 2012 Thank you very much. The best case is to get Hyatt Regency Atlanta in a good price. The second case is to get another good (i.e. rank and price) hotel near to Hyatt Regency Atlanta (e.g. within 2-3 blocks or 0.3 miles).Thank you
AaronJB Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 The issue with bidding is that if you were to bid on - for example - the downtown zone in Atlanta - you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries on the PRICELINE map of the downtown zone. You could definitely get a hotel further than 3 blocks when bidding, as it could be anywhere within the shaded zone. However, with the savings over regular rate, you could take a cab if you get a hotel further than 3 blocks.Or, you could use HOTWIRE. I do see what appears to be a possible match for the Westin Peachtree on HOTWIRE for $135 for these dates - that's only a few blocks away from the Hyatt.Would that be of interest?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kele Posted June 4, 2012 Author Report Posted June 4, 2012 Thank you very much for your kind help. I also saw the $135 one.The price is kind of high comparing to the other successful biddings in the forum, in particular when you found somebody here got a $65 one at Hyatt Regency. Should I wait for a better one later? I think that using the cab option will not be a bad idea for a round trip per day to the Hyatt Regency.Thank you.
AaronJB Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Rates can vary substantially from day-to-day; unfortunately, if there's something going on on your date/s, rates are going to be more expensive. HOTWIRE is more expensive than PRICELINE, but you can potentially guess which hotels are showing and possibly get a hotel closer to where you need to be. With PRICELINE, you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded zone.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
