Priceline Hotel: NYC 7/18-7/22 - Advice re spliting bids

Hello,

Looking for 1 room for a 4-night stay at a 4* hotel in NYC, July 18-22 (Wed to Sun). Would be happy with the areas of MTW, MTE, TS, CPS, ESB, Downtown-Financial, Soho-Tribeca or Chelsea.

Have tried bidding for a 4* up to $160 per night with no luck. Have tried for a 3.5* up to $120 per night with no luck (with CPS excluded as I'd like to avoid the Hudson). Am I bidding too low?!

Browsing on Expedia & Hilton websites, it seems that prices are better for Thursday to Sunday stays alone. The Hilton Doubletree Financial District (listed as a 3.5* on Priceline) is giving me a rate of $159 per night while the Millenium Hilton (listed as a 4* on Priceline) is giving me a rate of $175 per night. This made me wonder if perhaps I should splt my bid on priceline and look for a 4* for the Thurs to Sunday. I know there's no guarantee that I will get the same hotel if I split my bid, but I'm willing to consider it if I can get a good price.

Any thoughts? Am I bidding too early for these dates?
