paradox987 Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Would really appreciate some help bidding for a Manhattan hotel from the dates 26 Aug - 6 Sep. My preference is for a 4*, well located hotel - most areas on the Priceline map look good - as long as I am close to a Subway I am happy - don't need to be in Times Square and in fact would rather be away from all the tourists. My dates are a few months away - does that raise or lower my chances of getting a good deal? My budget is $250 a night.
paradox987 Posted May 31, 2012 Author Report Posted May 31, 2012 I've tried my preference for4* in the Soho-Tribeca and Chelsea areas for the above dates starting at $130 and rising up to $200 following the rebidding strategy posted here with no success. Any tips appreciated.

AaronJB Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This doesn't tend to be a particularly busy period in NYC (although it's not the slowest season), although rates do ramp up once September really gets going. My guess is that the length of stay may be at least part of the issue. Would you be willing to split your stay into two parts?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
paradox987 Posted May 31, 2012 Author Report Posted May 31, 2012 Thanks for the welcome :) I suspected the dates might be the issue so have just now split the 11 nights in half and stil no result under $200.
thereuare Posted June 1, 2012 Report Posted June 1, 2012 Are Soho-Tribeca and Chelsea the only acceptable zones for this trip? (are these the only zones you have bid thus far?)If you're flexible and able to include other midtown zones i do think you can get your complete stay at one hotel for not much more than you have already bid. For example, what appears to be the Omni Berkshire Hotel in the MTE zone is offered for $225/nite and gets excellent reviews.Let us know your thoughts on including other nearby areas vs. SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID vs. waiting it out and trying again over the course of the next few weeks. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. paradox987 Posted June 1, 2012 Author Report Posted June 1, 2012 I managed to find a really good rate for Trump Soho on Expedia for 8 of the nights and pricelined the remaining 3 nights with a wider net and got The Kitano 4* Sep 3 - Sep 6 for $180 a night in midtown , normally $332 so pretty happy. I will post a report now.
