Priceline Hotel: strategy needed for weekend of 11/16-11/19

We will be coming in that friday (11/16) and leaving on that sunday(18) or monday(19), the event that we are attending is at Lake Front Arena on Saturday. We would prefer to be close to the French Quarter instead of the event because we plan to enjoy the other days there downtown and on Bourbon... Right now as far as the room we are looking at either the French Quarter or Downtown. Downtown is preferred because we want to be walking distance from the fun but without all the noise of the loud drunks all night. Looking for a 3.5* to 4* but would probably settle for a 3* if they have a decent deal and quiet rooms. any advice on price estimates we should bid, or areas we should consider or when the best time for us to try to book would be GREATLY appreciated, Im guessing that there isnt any other major events around that time frame that would make the price be incredibly high but Im not from NOLA, so I dont know...thanks in advance. :)

Your topic title mentioned 4 people, were you planning on only one room for the four of you?

If so note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

Also, lately weened nites in New Orleans have been more expensive than weekend nites, so including/excluding the Sunday nite may have an effect on rates, when will your plans be first to know which set of date(s) you'll be trying for first? What is your target budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this trip?
