Indian Explorer Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 Hello,I am bidding for 2 rooms for 2 nights - 6/8/12 - 6/10/12 I am trying for a 4* hotel with a budget of $130 . I am willing to stay in most neighborhoods in Manhattan south of Central Park. But mainly Tribeca/Soho and the Lower East Side. I tried bidding today, and even went to 3.5*/3* hotel, but had no luck. Is this is a reasonable budget for these dates? Should i try waiting for a little closer to the date ? Any suggestions would be very helpful!Thank you!
thereuare Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Which zone(s) did you bid when rejected up to $130?If you're looking at any zone south of CPS i think you're likely looking at ~$150-$160 for a 3* or better hotel. However, if you choose to bid these parameters you'll need to be willing to accept the Hudson Hotel (3.5* rated in the CPS zone), which while well located has notoriously small rooms (would this be acceptable?). Also, when bidding less than 4* in the MTE zone some of the hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway (would this be acceptable?)If you're only looking to bid the LES/Soho zone(s) i think you're likely looking at closer to $200+ for these dates.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. I am not familiar with the Hells Kitchen and Queensborough Neighborhood, so i avoided selecting those two.I dont mind the Hudson hotel, just want a decent/clean room in a nice neighborhood. Also I don't mind the walk, we are only there for two nights so I think we might use a lot of taxis.Thanks!

(Ideally I would like to spend 175 with taxes)My acceptable zones are : CPS , Chelsea , Downtown, Empire State, Hells Kitchen , Lower East Side, Madison Square, Midtwon West, Midtwon East, Soho, Times Square.Soho and Lower East Side are my top choices, but all the others are acceptable.Thank you!Would it help to split up the nights and bid on each one separately?
