zebazga Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Hi. Although I've used Priceline for airlines, never hotel. I need a hotel in for 7/21 only in Houston in one of three following areas and I'd love to have a hotel that provides a way to check email (I won't have my own computer with me):Houston NWBrookhollowCyfair.I noticed there aren't many bid results for Cyfair or Brookhollow. Is there a reason for this? Bad areas to stay?Reviewing the hotel lists it looked like Priceline had slightly better hotels than Hotwire, but I don't really care which I use. There didn't seem to be as many bid results for Hotwire. All advice would be greatly appreciated. My absolute top budget for taxes/fees/everything is $65 but I'd love to be closer to $25-35.For now I'll be reading priceline site for how many bids I get. Thanks!
zebazga Posted July 20, 2005 Author Report Posted July 20, 2005 Entered a bid for Houston Brookhollow area for a 3* at $34. My first bid was accepted so I guess I started to high. Taxes and service fees were $12.89.
thereuare Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! We don't see much bidding in this area as it's not a local 'hot spot'... but you see this hotel was already on the list! :) Thanks for the post and enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
zebazga Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 Was surprised to get it so low when previous price posted was a couple of years old.The hotel was nice enough, but they're remodelling. They're currently working on floors 3-5 and hope to have those done the end of August. Then they'll be working on 5-8. I think they said they want to have all the work done before end of year. The rooms could use updating. There was still a lot of noise on my floor after the workers are supposed to stop, so they bumped me up to the 9th floor. Just something to be aware of.
