txgalnny Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Hello -I'm fairly new here. I've read the priceline bidding tips and used the rebid suggestions to try to find a hotel in Copley or Cambridge/Harvard with 3.5 or 4 stars. I took my bidding as high as $175, which I thought reasonable based on other quotes I've seen. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Am I really bidding too low or should I try again in a couple of days or a week...does it help for the travel date to be closer at hand? Thanks!
Romelle Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 You probably really are bidding too low for those dates in those zones. Hotwire's 3* is $222.There is good discussion on early and late bidding up in the FAQs.It might be a good idea to make a cancelable back-up reservation, and then you could continue bidding more comfortably. Also, the more zones you are willing to consider, the better chance you'll have of being successful. The Boston area is fairly compact, and has good public transportation.I agree $175 sounds like a lot, but I suspect there are lots of newly minted doctors and lawyers graduating right then, and there are lots of proud parents and grandparents wanting to stay in the area.Romelle
thereuare Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Geographically speaking, Boston isn't really that large of a city... are Copley and Cambridge West the only zones that would work for your needs this trip? Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Copley Square and Quincy Market are all generally considered to be centrally and well located... would any of these other zones work for your plans this trip or do you have specific needs to only stay in Copley or Cambridge West? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
