Priceline Hotel: Need Bidding Help -Tallahassee

Hi,

I've looked thru the posts for Tallahasse and it appears that PL may have changed its ratings, so it's difficult to guess which hotels might be offered. Presently shows:

North Zone

• 2 *
  
• 1 *
  

South Zone

• 2 *
  
• 1 *
  

I have never bid on PL before; I have used Hotwire and was pleased with the previous results.

What I am hoping to accomplish is to beat the current price that I am seeing on Hotwire which is $40 for their 2-1/2* location which includes breakfast (this has been the LaQuinta in the past). I am comfortable with that type of hotel and I am interested in a bid strategy for PL that might give me the same accomodation in the low $30 range.

Yes, as long as I don't get stuck at the Ramada Inn Limited across from FSU(I've heard some horror stories); which if it's one of PL's hotels I can't imagine it would be rated > 1 *.

The Ramada Limited has not yet been reported, but appears to be in the North zone (you can confirm if you know the area). It could potentially be a 2* rated property... so would you want to avoid bidding 2* in this zone?

I would probably target 2-12* in North Zone and 2* in South Zone. The date for travel is August 12th so there is a little bit of time left.

After reading thru some of the posts here about minimum bid warnings, I did notice that the threshold for triggering a minimum bid warning was $25 for 2-1/2* North Zone; $31 for 2* North Zone; $35 for 2* South Zone.

Is this any indication of where to perhaps start bidding?

This is how i would bid, given your 'back-up' and some time....

Select 2.5* North...

Bid $33, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $36.

If rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 2* South...

Bid $28.

I followed your bidding strategy and came up with a counter offer for $7 more than the $28 Bid for 2* South Zone

Any further suggestions?

My guess is that there is not going to be a run on hotel rooms in Tallahassee (unless you're heading there for a special event that would be attracting a large group).

Given you have time, if you'd be happy with a 2* hotel in this area than i would just re-bid in 72 hours, upping your bid by $2 every three days until you are successful... you could also re-try your above 2.5* bids every 72 hours and/or up those bids as well if you'd prefer a higher rated property.
