Priceline Hotel: Question on How Far in Advance to Bid for Austin

There is a good discussion on bidding timing in the F.A.Q.s above.

Even now is good time to begin, as long as you stay on the low side initially.

For downtown Austin on your date, HOTWIRE has a 4* at $170 and a 3.5* at $133.

For event situations, it can be a good idea to make a cancelable back-up reservation and then bid up until the last minute (hoping to score a better deal). There are lots of links to hotel sites on the Support Page (and the link to the Support Page is in the header just above).

Austin's downtown area can be quite expensive if there's something going on. If there's a significant event going on, I'd be persistent in trying to get something locked in and consider looking for a back-up.

What would be your desired budget per night?

I need a 3 1/2 to 4 STAR hotel room...

Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* (and therefore want to bid up to your limit for a 4* property before trying for a 3.5* property) OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip?

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.
