diegoteck Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 I started today trying to book 5* Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South for 6/8/2012 - 6/10/2012Starting from $100 I get all the way up to $160 with no luck.I didn't includedLas Vegas Strip Vicinity North or Las Vegas Strip NorthI'd really like to get Vdara.Any tips?Thank you
AaronJB Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I think you're probably not far from a win in Strip South - I'm guessing you're looking at $165-180 needed for a win at the 5* level in Strip South. However, there's no way to guarantee a particular property - you may get any of the 5*'s in the zone.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll make further suggestions.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
diegoteck Posted May 22, 2012 Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 Well, yesterday I went to $165 for 5* Las Vegas south strip with a total of 12 bids.feeling I was close today I started at 165 up to $200, At that point included Strip North, and still no luck.Giving up to 5* I added 4* and I went down in price back to $150 to start over. at $160 included Strip North Vecinity ( Trump) and at my last chance at $170 I added Strip near East, hopping for Hard rock. Now I could keep on bidding but the areas I left out have 4* off the strip, so I'll wait until tomorrow to try again.I always used the PRICELINE link from this site.I'll post an update tomorrow, Thank you
thereuare Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 HOTWIRE has a 5* hotel offered in the Strip North zone for $213/nite that shows a Casino, which would indicated that it is not the Trump. Given your rejected bid for a 5* hotel at $200, and your subsequent rejections for a 4* at $170... is a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone worth a more than you've already bid? (not saying it necessarily should be as each user will have their own answer to this question, but relative to your rejected bids it may be something to consider.. also taking into consideration hotel direct prices for a 5* hotel in this zone start at ~$300/nite)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Good luck on your next round of bidding. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
diegoteck Posted May 23, 2012 Author Report Posted May 23, 2012 I saw the Hotwire offer for $213, but there were two things that are keeping me on Priceline. 1 - I think taxes + fees are higher on Hotwire, allowing me to go higher on my Priceline bids. 2 - And more important. If I want to book Hotwire, when I scroll down the page I have the option to book with 2 queens ( I really need 2 queens) at $242, more that what I want to pay. I'm hopping that with Priceline I can just request 2 queens at check-in with no extra charge.Priceline guarantees accommodation for two adults, but it doesn't clarify the number of beds. What do you think about that?Thank you again for your help
AaronJB Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 PRICELINE guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy. While one can request two beds at the hotel, the hotel could say no or charge more and there have been a number of reports of Vegas properties charging more (although it's not guaranteed the hotel will even offer that option - it may depend on the day and who you talk to.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
diegoteck Posted May 24, 2012 Author Report Posted May 24, 2012 Well after your advice finally decided to go Hotwire. We are 6 people and it was too much of a risk if with a Priceline reservation I couldn't get 2 queens for each room at check-in.I'll post details of my reservation in the Hotwire section.Thank you for all your help.PS: I used the HOTWIRE link :)
diegoteck Posted May 24, 2012 Author Report Posted May 24, 2012 Started looking on Priceline for a 5* Las Vegas South Strip. ( see post under Priceline " Trying to get 5* las Vegas Strip South")After 2 days trying, going from $100 all the way to $200 with no success, on the third day I decided to go Hotwire.Hotwire was showing $213 / Night for 6-8-12 to 6-10-12Since I was looking for 2 rooms with 4 guess it also give me the option of $242/night with 2 queens. (Priceline warranties 1 bed/double occupancy )The same reservation would have cost me $1473.93 on any other site.
