EthanR
I am looking to get a 4-star hotel in Buckhead for November 16-18. I am open to any of the 4 star Buckhead hotels, but when is the best time to submit a bid? Early on (this Summer) or closer to the date in the Fall? Thanks guys :) Link to comment

thereuare
If your plans are firm you can/should start bidding now, but making sure you don't over bid and only keep your bids near the low end of the reasonably expected range. If you can get a great deal on a 4* property in this zone now... why not?For more on this subject see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know if/when you're ready to move forward and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread, and only post the amenity names (and not the descriptions) as you can see how much easier it is to read and helps minimize the chance that we'll miss an amenity when researching your trip.FitnessPoolRestaurantBusinessHi-Speed InternetBlind AccessibleDeaf AccessibleTravel Accessible Room AccessibleBathroom AccessibleHandicapped Parking Roll-in ShowerMy best guess for this one would be the Grand Hyatt Atlanta. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. EthanR
Sorry! Still learning the ways of the Forum (which I love). Would the Grand Hyatt be possible even if it's not listed on HOTWIRES "More Hotels" (name displayed) search? Link to comment
Romelle
Yes, definitely. For HOTWIRE and PRICELINE, there can be different hotels in the direct retail side and the opaque side. Romelle Link to comment
EthanR
Perfect! Only other question - if I book now (months in advance) do you think there is a good chance of me getting pushed to another hotel? Link to comment
Romelle
Also yes, if you are asking whether you might initially get a different hotel than the Grand Hyatt. The ID process is always only the best guess. There can be new hotels, hotels with star levels recently changed to 4*, zone boundary changes, hotels not yet reported here, and probably some other reasons that escape me at the moment. Oh yes - another hotel starting to use the same amenity set. Probably still some more reasons, but the answer is that it can happen. The very first hotel I ever got from Hotwire, I carefully analyzed and thought I had it figured right. Posted here and the experts agreed with my analysis. Still a best guess, but I was pretty sure as I proceeded with the transaction. Surprise - a different hotel! If you are asking whether you might get "walked" when you arrive, it is rare, but can happen. Hotels can over-book and will accommodate the later arrivals at other hotels. Cab fare and meal vouchers sometimes sweeten the transaction. Romelle Link to comment
EthanR
Just to update, I haven't booked this Atlanta hotel yet because we are going for the Madonna concert and I don't want her to cancel because of poor ticket sales. I will update if/when I do book. Link to comment
Romelle
You might consider making a back-up cancelable reservation. There are lots of links to various hotel sites on the Support Page (link up in the heading area). A "Plan B" will allow you to play that last-minute game more comfortably.Romelle Link to comment
