teresitasf Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Hello all. First time bidder and poster here. This is also a first trip to LA in my adult life :) I'm looking at booking in the Century City/Westwood area as it seems to be centrally located for my purposes. #2 I'm traveling with a companion and we would prefer 2 separate beds. Should I adjust my bid to 3 adults to increase the odds of getting this? The rate is the same either way.#1. The current offer for 2 adults for my dates (6/1-6/4) is $159, 4* with, 90% recommendation, Amenities:Free Internet, Fitness Center, Pool(s)See all ["all" = Free Internet, Fitness Center, Pool(s, restaurant, high speed internet, accessible for: blind, deaf, path of travel; in room accessibility, accessible bathroom, *roll in shower*]. My hunch is the Intercontinental but I will have a better idea if Royce (previous poster) reports backs results. Which hotel do YOU think it may be?#3 Any other suggestions on how to proceed? I'm really trying to stretch my dollars here and the $40 vallet fee is the icing on the cake to all of this.Thank you,K. in San Francisco
AaronJB Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)If you are looking for more than 1 bed, then I would suggest using HOTWIRE and searching for 2 adults/1 child or, if the prices are not changing when searching for 3, three adults is fine. Can you confirm that the amenities showing with the listing when searching for three adults are the same? Additionally, when searching for 2, if you click "see details" then "see all amenities" are you seeing additional amenities beyond the ones listed above? You could also consider bidding, as PRICELINE is generally at least slightly/moderately cheaper than HOTWIRE. However, with PRICELINE you are only guaranteed one bed/double occupancy and have to be okay with potentially any of the hotels in the zone if you bid at the 4* level (whereas with HOTWIRE one can make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 If you need two beds please confirm the amenities showing when searching for triple or quad occupancy. Also note that while you will get separate accommodations when searching for more than double occupancy, the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.... and if you haven't yet, please read your messages.Thanks. teresitasf Posted May 21, 2012 Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 In the end I bid on Priceline in the same area since you and a few others mentioned Priceline often offers better savings. I will update my hotel and bid information on the Priceline forum. Since I am also *hoping* to be accommodated with 2 beds (1 for me, 1 for my mate) I can also update, after the trip whether or not we were accommodated - if that is appropriate for this website. Priceline Winning Bid: $105, Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, (4*; Brentwood-Westwood, Beverly Hills/West Hollywood)And of course... I used the PRICELINE links provided by this website. Thanks Betterbidding! I am a happy camper! B)
teresitasf Posted May 21, 2012 Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 Non-Bid Priceline price: $203Hoping to be accommodated with 2 double/twin beds. And of course... my bid was placed using the PRICELINE links from this website. B)
