Frances Zhang Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Hi, I'm trying to book a hotel in Manhattan from 6/27 to 7/1. We are traveling in a group of four and would like to stay in the same room to save money. My preferred areas are: TS, MTW, MTE, CPS, ESB, preferably close to subway station, 3.5* and above. Max bid is $150. I have been bidding for a couple of days and all failed. Can you help me to come up with a bidding strategy? Also, may I know if quad rooms are available in this area? Thanks a lot...
AaronJB Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)PRICELINE only guarantees one bed/double occupancy - while one can request two beds with the hotel, the hotel can say no. In NYC, where rooms at many properties are small to the point where they may not be able to fit a rollaway (and rooms with two beds are often an upgrade) there is a very high risk the hotel can say no. HOTWIRE, where one can indicate the amount of people in the room and ensure some sort of bedding for the entire party, is a better option for a party of four. What have you bid so far in terms of zone and top price? Is the risk of getting one bed acceptable?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Frances Zhang Posted May 21, 2012 Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 Thank you for your reply.I would prefer a guarantee for four ppl. Otherwise I will have to pay for two rooms which will be much more expensive. I have tried to bid from $120 and up in $5 increment to $150. In terms of area, I started from TS, CPS, MTW and added MTE, ESB, MSG. I have also tried 3*, but no luck so far.I checked hotwire just now (1 room, 4 persons), there is a 3* hotel in midtown central area for $187 per night. It is a bit higher than i'd like to spend, but I think still OK. Do you have any guess on which hotel this is? Thanks a lot!
AaronJB Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Please provide the complete list of amenities showing with the HOTWIRE listing and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

thereuare Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 These amenities are common for NYC, but my guess would be the Holiday Inn at 51 Nassau St (previously the Hotel Reserve), but given how often we see most of these amenities, and that this hotel has changed hands since last reported to the board, i'm not certain. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
