hummer84 Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 I will be heading to Chicago on the June 22 weekend with family so we are looking for 3 rooms. I want a hotel next to the river (on either side) so that we are centrally located to all the sights. We are looking for a 4 star hotel but not looking to spend past $130/night. What would be the best bidding strategy. I've also heard great things about the Hyatt and how some people get it so cheap during the year but the rack rate is well over 200 bucks that weekend. Could this hotel be had in any way through priceline bidding? Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Are you looking for 6/22-23 or 6/22-24?There is no way to bid for a particular hotel or particular spot (next to the river) when using PRICELINE - one has to be willing to stay anywhere within the selected zone. HOTWIRE, where you can make an "educated guess" as to which hotels are showing, is a better option if you want to *try* to get a hotel near a particular area. How many people are going to be in each room?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
hummer84 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 I am looking for 6/22-24 so basically 2 nights. 2 people in each room and 1 of the rooms we would prefer 2 double beds. Do you think Hotwire might be a better option in my case?I found this 3 star hotel in mag mile area on hotwire for $104/night. Any ideas which one it might be? indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center with 90 % recommendation.
thereuare Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 ...and 1 of the rooms we would prefer 2 double beds.Is this a preference or a requirement? Will there be more than double occupancy in the room OR are there just two people and they would prefer separate beds? Is a pullout sofabed or rollaway brought into the room sufficient at the second 'bed'?I found this 3 star hotel in mag mile area on hotwire for $104/night. Any ideas which one it might be? indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center with 90 % recommendation. If you click the 'See all' link under the amenities do you see more than those you've included above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hummer84 Posted May 19, 2012 Author Report Posted May 19, 2012 Perhaps this should be moved to the hotwire thread. I've had to change the date we'll be travelling to 6/7/2012 - 8/7/2012. We need 2 beds in each room as we have 6 people in total and would rather do 2 rooms (3 people each room) vs 3 rooms.I found this listing on hotwire:4* for $162/night in Chicago loop theater district with following amenities: Boutique Hotel, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible bathroomIs this the hotel Monaco as i've stayed there before and enjoyed my stay.
thereuare Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 We will keep this thread here and once a hotel is ultimately won we'll move it to the HOTWIRE section of the board if necessary (and if you use the "EDIT TO REPORT WIN" button on the lower right of this page and use the form, it will move automatically)My best guess for the HOTWIRE property above would be the Hotel Burnham. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 If you scroll over "see all" next to the amenities, are you seeing additional amenities beyond the ones noted above?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

hummer84 Posted May 21, 2012 Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 Thanks for you help guys! I found a couple of properties, this one is again on the weekend of 6/22-6/24 in the loop area (3 star on hotwire for 119.38/night with 95% recommnedtation). The first one has the following amenities:- Indoor pool(s) - Fitness Center - Pool(s) - Business Center - Laundry Facilities (self-service) - High-Speed Internet Access - Complimentary Breakfast- Free InternetIs this the La quinta Inn? If so, how does this compare to the aforementioned Club Quarters Wacker on the dates 7/6-7/8. I know the Club quarters is in a better location (on the river) but I heard the room sizes are not that great. Ideally I would like to get 1 room for 2 people and the second room for 4 people (2 double beds). If not then I would just get the 3 rooms. I can travel on either of these 2 weekends. The second one i found is 3 star in River NMA for 107.96/night with 90% recommendation with amenities:- Indoor pool(s) - Fitness Center - Pool(s) - Restaurant(s) - Business Center- Laundry Facilities (self-service) - High-Speed Internet Access Again, thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Please change the currency drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to US Dollars (and if applicable the country to United States). Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase. What is the rate in US Dollars? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Thanks you.
