mattrob Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Wanted to use the $7 per night bonus money, and have been bidding a lot last night to get something for either July 8 - 10 in Miami area, or July 10 - 12 in Naples/Ft Myers area. Looking for the 4star hotels but have been bidding high without succes. E.g. the Coral Gables area for the Hyatt, but although cheapest rates online go for about $ 105, was not able to get it up to $ 85 on priceline. Same goes for other areas (Sarasota, Bonita Springs Hyatt, etc). Here the same; regular price for this hotel is $ 105 online, so my maximum bid was $ 80 for this. Stayed at this property beginning this year and was very happy with it. But it seems priceline 'discounts' are getting lower that they used to be ? Or is it just me, bidding now in summer in Florida ? Last years my feeling was that discounts were higher. I remember the years when I nailed Coral Gables Hyatt for $ 55 - $ 60 a night ! I am not that early either, I think.Well, in the end pleased with my win, although this was the only hotel I could get in this area; started as low as $ 50 and increased with free-rebids up to $ 80. As I got the $ 7 Facebook discount, I paid only $ 73 for it, which is still a little higher than I hoped for based on the actual online rates. I used your PRICELINE link and after that added the bonus, so hope that went well.
AaronJB Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Not a bad deal for this Hyatt property! Hope you are looking forward to your stay.Rates have gone up in general over the last few years, but if this is a busy set of dates for a particular reason (festival, convention, etc), discounts may be less aggressive.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
