bmw745ion19s Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 I started at $55 and free rebid up to $92 and got nothing. Hotwire is quoting what looks to be $115 for Hotel Indigo in the area, I am hoping for either of the 3.5* hotels on priceline list. Any ideas guys? Is there a certain time (like 3am or midnight) when prices and availability change on priceline. was thinking of just waiting and trying again tomorrow. The dates are 5/25-5/27 was selecting 1 room but need 2 rooms for the 2nd night. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 There is no 'best time of day' to bid, rates are set and changed by hotels 24/7.The Hilton Bayfront is offered at $140/nite for your dates... how high are you wiling to bid on PRICELINE for a 3.5* property? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. bmw745ion19s Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 Just rebid again with same results. I would like to be at <$100 a night as I can secure the room direct through Hilton for around $111 or so. I have considered trying the beach areas but the reason I am going in the first place is for a Wedding at the Vinoy (crazy rates) and have festivities there friday-sunday. I might try the beach area and see if I have any luck or maybe a 3* in this area.
thereuare Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 HOTWIRE also has what appears to be the Hotel Indigo for $112/nite... not sure how it compares to the Hilton, but it would seem to get you a bit closer to the Vinoy and accordingly to Google Maps would only be about a 10 minute walk. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. bmw745ion19s Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 Today PRICELINE came out with a promotion for $7 bonus dollars per night.I used this coupon and once again bid up the 3.5* zone with free rebids to $84 + 7 so $91 and still failed. The Hotel Indigo looks acceptable but does not seem worth as much as the Hilton $$$ wise, I tried bidding on 3* up to $76 (with bonus included) and did not win, there are onyl 2 free rebid zones. I thought there were 3 but one of them in the far north part (20 miles + away with no interstate to it) had a resort that snuck in at the bottom, and I didnt realize it until after I had finished bidding. Thank God I didnt win a place there!
thereuare Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 The Hotel Indigo looks acceptable but does not seem worth as much as the Hilton $$$ wise...The suggestion of the Indigo was to put you closer to the Vinoy since it appeared walkable (and wouldn't need to worry about having a few drinks at some of the wedding reception festivities).Sorry to hear this has been such a difficult stay to bid. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bmw745ion19s Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 Oh Yeah got that covered for sure :) Last night I went ahead and made a direct reservation with Hilton at $111 per night that is refundable as long as I cancel the day before. I plan to keep bidding daily until then to see if I win.Todays Bidding Failed again even with the $7 bonus cash. I did see priceline alerts where they will send you an email wehn other people win in the zone, do these work? I signed up for them.
thereuare Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 ...do these work?Do you get emails... yes.Are they meaningful... not necessarily. They will send you an email anytime a hotel is won in the zone, but they have nothing to do with your specific dates, therefore don't have much meaning (especially if your dates are of higher than usual demand).Good luck with the next round of bidding. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
