kraximus41 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 First time traveling to Boston in a few weeks and I am looking for a bidding strategy for a 4* hotel in the Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Quincy Market, Copley Square area. I am trying to keep it under $200 a night for this weekend, is that realistic? I would consider adding Fenway Park, Cambridge East possibly, but not sure if that's a good idea either. I really just want to stay pretty centrally located. Thanks in advance.
Romelle Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Hotwire has a 4* Cambridge area for $180 for your dates. The other area 4*s range from $225 to $280. Since one can sometimes do better on Priceline than Hotwire, you might score something under $200. Romelle

kraximus41 Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 Thank you. I clicked on the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links, and looked through everything. It does appear that there is a $180.00 in the Cambridge area, and several other 4* hotels in the areas I'm interested. I would prefer to stay way from that HOTWIRE $180.00 hotel, in that it might be far from where I want to be. Maybe you guys know which hotel it is? As far as a PRICELINE strategy, I just really want to be in the one of the aforementioned areas and hopefully keep it under $200 a night. Much appreciated.
Romelle Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Maybe you guys know which hotel it is? For help with hotel detection, you need to post back with the Hotwire amenities. And if it says something like "see all" you need to either click that or "details" to get the complete list. You can also try to do it yourself, by seeing if you can find an amenities match in the list of reported hotels (at the beginning of the Massachusetts Hotwire areas.I copied the current list below:4* Le Meridien Cambridge Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business(same as Hotel Marlowe)4* Hotel MarloweAmenities: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business ORAmenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business (same as Le Meridien)4* Hyatt Regency Cambridge Customer FavoriteAmenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis4* Royal SonestaAmenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, SpaIt isn't an exact science by any means, but can help. There doesn't appear to be an exact match with any of the above. Sometimes the moderators have a little more information, but I'd guess it is either a new hotel or a hotel has changed its amenities list.Romelle
kraximus41 Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 Thanks Romelle, that is great information. Given that I'm not totally keen on staying in Cambridge, I think I will stick with PRICELINE.

kraximus41 Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 Okay, using your PRICELINE link, I was able to secure the Boston Millennium Hotel (in Quincy Market area) for $210 a night. A little more than I wanted to pay, but it seems to be a big weekend in Boston, especially two weeks out. The going rate was $287.00 a night so I feel good about the deal that I secured. I went through several re-bid iterations before I was able to secure this hotel. Thanks so much for the help!
thereuare Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Congratulations on your success! While certainly not cheap in dollar terms, this looks like some decent savings. Taking into account the higher than usual demand, glad to see you're pleased with the results.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.
