victor_vvv Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 I booked a 8 day mid-size SUV rental through priceline about 2.5 months ago for $20/day - $309 total cost for booking May 27-June 3. Thought it was a great name your price bid.Decided to extend vacation a couple more days and have been monitoring prices the past 3 weeks. This morning, hotwire posted a Midsize SUV guaranteed rate of $18.30/day for May 25-27. Over the past little while, hotwire has been pricing anywhere between $26-$38/day. Before making the move with hotwire, went back over to priceline and they were advertising $65/day for midsize SUV. Threw in a bid for $17/day - and CHA CHING! - APPROVED! $63 total for May 25-27 through Hertz. Priceline savings of 76%!Lesson: Patience and persistence pays off (I was seriously checking the sites 3 times a day). For me, it's not about whether it was worth my time and effort to save the few $'s (not really for a 2 day rental). But rather knowing I beat the system! haha.Good luck!
