NateJ Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Hi I am heading out to new York from 6/1-6/3 and looking to use priceline to get a hotel. I think I am a little late to the game so hoping to try to use the rebidding to get a hotel at a 3.5 or 4* level either in Midtown West/East/ or Time Square. If I go with 3.5 stars I think I have 7 rebid zones. I have listed them below. Could anyone let me know if i am correct on the zones. I looked at Pricelines bidding zones but 3 zones did not show up Brooklyn, Coney Island and Morningside Heights - Harlem so i am not sure if they are a possible rebid zone or if there is a 3.5* in that zone. Also what would you suggest to be a opening bid for and what do you think is a geneal price i am looking at.Zone1 - Brooklyn 4 - Coney Island8 - Long Island City9 - Lower East Side13 - Morningside Heights - Harlem14 - Queensborough Bridge17 - Upper East SideThank you for any help you can give me
thereuare Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! When bidding 4* in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones... when bidding 3.5* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones.I believe the 'mistake' you're likely making is that you're using the 'retail' side of PRICELINE to determine your re-bid zones, which is not what you should be doing... you want to use the 'name your own price' part of their website and the method discussed here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedIf you read the above and are confused this should break it down further for you:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'New York City, NY' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... please click each of these links before replying.Let us know if you have any questions regarding the above and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board, we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
