differenceofopinion Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Tried getting a 4* first using the North Michigan and M.L.G. No luck. Retried with a 3.5 at $75 and it took a bit to process but finally came back with a win! Considering NATO conference is ending the day before we check in I am happy with my win. Should be a nice place to stay for a first short trip to Chi town! Any recommendations on restaurants or any other places that are a must see??
AaronJB Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Awesome deal for this well-located property (plus free Doubletree cookies at check-in are always a plus) during the busy Spring period. Please let us know likes/dislikes and more about what you're looking for in terms of restaurants/sightseeing and I would be happy to offer some suggestions.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
differenceofopinion Posted May 14, 2012 Author Report Posted May 14, 2012 Any do not miss, must try while you are there restaurants...like I've heard people rave about a pizza joint. Not sure of the name of it though.
AaronJB Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 People like Uno's for Pizza, but I'm not a real fan of the whole experience - the pizza is good, but I've never thought it was AMAZING, and if it's during any sort of busy period, it's a line. I'd rather recommend Lou Malnati's (there are multiple locations) or Giordano's. What I would particularly recommend would be the pizza at an Italian restaurant - La Madia (http://www.dinelamadia.com/) They have all sorts of variations:REDThree Cheese | Mozzarella, Provolone and Pecorino with Tomato Sauce 12Housemade Fennel Sausage & Sweet Onions | Tomato Sauce with Mozzarella Cheese 14Triple Pepperoni | Tomato Sauce & Mozzarella Cheese, finished with White Truffle Oil 16Margherita | Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, Tomato Sauce & Torn Basil 17Parma Classic | Mozzarella Cheese, Tomato Sauce, Prosciutto, finished with Arugula* 16Burrata & Fire-Roasted Eggplant | Mozzarella Cheese & Tomato Sauce* 18La Quercia Coppa Piccante | Fire-Roasted Sweet Banana Pepper & Onions 15WHITEShaved Artichoke | Reggiano Parmesan & Garlic 13Carbonara Slagel Farm Guanciale, Cracked Organic Egg, Pecorino, Melted Leeks & Black Pepper 16Seasonal Wild Mushrooms & Smoked Mozzarella 14Taleggio and 3-Hour Roasted Grapes 13Laura Chenel Goat Cheese | Melted Leeks, Garlic & Pancetta Lardons 15Sopresatta & Fire-Roasted Fennel | Arugula, Parmesan 14Cracked Organic Egg | Prosciutto & Black Pepper* 17Housemade Lamb Sausage | Fresno Peppers, Caciocavallo Cheese & Mint Salsa Verde 15Clam & Fresno Chilies | Pecorino, Garlic & Fresh Thyme 17Costa Rican Pineapple | Speck & Fresno Peppers, Fleur de Sel 15Spinach | Roasted Cherry Tomatoes & Goat Cheese 14Quartino is another Italian place w/pizza.There are hundreds of breakfast options, but I like the new casual restaurant from Rick Bayless, Xoco. There's also West Egg Cafe closer to your hotel, as well as Fox and Obel Market and Cafe, which is a couple of blocks from your hotel. The Pittsfield Cafe (in the Pittsfield Building) is an old-school breakfast spot, but it's a bit of a trek from your hotel. There's so many good restaurants in Chicago - let us know a bit more about specifics in regards to likes/dislikes, atmosphere, etc.
