mgm1001001 Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Looking at bidding on a nice hotel in the Oakland area. Considering the following zones:3* Oakland-Alameda (Priceline says median price is $120, Betterbidding Priceline Maps say between $40 to $60)3 1/2* to 4 * Berkely-Emeryville (Priceline says median price is $169, Betterbidding Priceline Maps say between $86 to $113, but do not mention of the 3 1/2*)3 1/2* Concord-Lafayette (Priceline says median price is $116, Betterbidding Priceline Maps say between $47 to $70)Any tips on starting points in those areas or what the 3 1/2* in Berkeley might be?I used the PRICELINE QuickQuote to start my search.Thanks.
thereuare Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 The Hotel Shattuck Plaza would be at least one possibility for the 3.5* hotel in the Berkely zone.Which zone and star rating did you want to bid first... or is your goal the least expensive hotel in any of the zones above at a minimum star rating? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mgm1001001 Posted May 11, 2012 Author Report Posted May 11, 2012 Our preference would be the least expensive in the 3 1/2* to 4* range, so I'll probably try the Berkeley zone first then expand to the Concord zone as a subsequent bid. If I can't get anything in those zones, would I try the 3* in Oakland.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 I'm not sure of your complete bidding strategy, but from what i think you intend to do, i think you can do better. If you'd like us to suggest a strategy let us know the following:Are you willing to pay more to stay in Berkeley vs Walnut Creek OR is the goal the least expensive hotel in either of these zones (at the minimum star level you designate)? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better in each of these two zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
