Researched 3* near Napa for an upcoming trip as Napa itself seems very high and not much in the way of discounts.

Retail for the Courtyard was $113 (AAA discount) or $110 (hotels.com).

Put in $70 and it was accepted. Would it have been possible to start lower?

I used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link to start my search.

Looks like a decent deal, but no way to know if a lower bid would have been accepted or not. Using our Priceline Maps i see historically there was at least one win for a midweek stay in July in the mid-$50's, so that might have been a good starting point (and researching using our Priceline Maps and Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins is a good starting point too).
