jusjus2008 Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 HELP!I have tried to bid on priceline for LOEW'S HOTEL (4*) at 75 dollars per night and it is rejecting my offer. I started my bids at 55 and increased by 5 dollars adding zones as I went along. I would really like to stay at LOEW's or Marriott Suite very close to 14th street. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jusjus2008 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Report Posted May 12, 2012 I would like to use priceline to win a bid for a 3.5* or 4* hotel in the midtown atlanta area. I have read info about rezoning and your tools are very helpful. I'm ready to proceed
jusjus2008 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Report Posted May 12, 2012 5/18-5/20 . I placed bids of 55, 60, 65 , 70, 75, 76 , 77Adding several zones along the way that didn't include any four star hotels
thereuare Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 What is your maximum bid for a 4* hotel in this zone before you consider adding other zones at the 4* level or lowering your star level for this zone to 3.5*?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jusjus2008 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Report Posted May 12, 2012 I would consider $80/night the maximum bid for the 4*. Also I would pay about $60-65/night for the 3.5*
thereuare Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 When bidding in Atlanta, at the 4* level you have FIFTEEN re-bid zones... at the 3.5* level you have TWELVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Midtown...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE(you could of course increase by $1 or $2 per bid as well, but i didn't think it was necessary to type that all out)Select 3.5* Midtown...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $52, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $54, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $56, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $61, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $62, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $64, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. weinish Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 While I hate Michigan, I do love your work.I'm going to Atlanta 5/30-6/3/2012.I read this on another site and am finding it HARD TO BELIEVE:Tip: Book One Night OnlyEven if you are planning on staying for a few nights, still book just one night. If your bid gets accepted, Priceline lets you add on additional nights at the same price. So once your bid is accepted, research the hotel online, and if you like it, reserve more nights, and if not, reserve a different hotel for the other nights.
Romelle Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 The reason that statement is not believable, is because it is wrong. This is a quote straight from Priceline's site:Terms and ConditionsThe number of additional nights you request cannot exceed the number of nights in your original reservation and you may only add nights to the beginning or end of your stay. If your priceline reservation is for more than one room, nights will be added to all rooms. You are unable to add nights to a single room of a multiple room reservation. If your request is accepted you may have to check-out of your original room and check back in to a different room.Nights can only be added up until 11am on the day of check-out (provided the hotel allows same-day bookings, otherwise the deadline is midnight the night before check-out)Take advantage of available rates by booking within 120 days of the original offer;Total stay does not exceed 21 nights; You have not already requested additional nights for this trip; andThe hotel you are holding a reservation with allows priceline to make reservations for additional nightsThe statement does not mention that sometimes additional nights are not offered. When they are offered, they may be offered at a higher rate than the original winning bid rate. And when using the extension feature, an additional base Priceline fee is added. Romelle
weinish Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 So the question is, for me, I guess, if I'm trying to get a hotel room for 4 days is it possible PRICELINE is going to be able to accept such a long bid? Does that happen? I assume it generally raises the price over such a period. Is it better to go for 2 days, and then hope for the offered extended stay?
thereuare Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 I don't think that four nites in Atlanta will be much of an issue, but for help with your stay please start a NEW TOPIC and let us know your maximum bid for this trip, and we'll assist you there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click each of these links before posting.Thanks.
